The Harvest Festival took place in Waterford, Ireland, between September 12th and 14th. There was the Sustainable Food Seminar, where attendees could hear the discussion chaired by RTE’s Damian O’Reilly.

Farmers, processors and customers shared their insights and experiences on the need and benefits of sustainable food production as we face the challenge of the feeding a growing world population from our land resources.


One of the partners of the FunkiFibre project, Flahavans, was there and talk about this European Project. They also explained the main aims of FunkiFibre:

  • To obtain MFC from cereal residues
  • To make the MFC suitable for the development of plastic composites
  • For new packaging applications with better mechanical and barrier properties.
